LAURA is a multifunctional ice-class vessel, its Shoalbuster design is suitable for performing various tasks in ice conditions and different work environments. The ship is equipped with all the necessary deck technical equipment for transporting and servicing of large-sized objects. The technical deck can accommodate 2 TEU containers or 4 buoys simultaneously, and the vessel is equipped with a 12-ton crane, a 30BP waterfall winch that can be used for assistance in emergency situations, as well as an auxiliary winch for moving objects weighing up to 12 tons. Additionally, it has a universal bracket for lowering various research equipment into the water, an A-Frame for leveling of seabed to support dredging operations, as well as the latest navigation equipment. The vessel has an unrestricted navigation area.
The ship was built at the Baltic Workboats AS shipyard in Estonia in cooperation with the Dutch company DAMEN. The purchase of the vessel was carried out with EU co-financing under the CEF-T-2022-MILMOB-WORKS transportation military mobility program.
